I HAVE to give my fellow Malibu girls some MA-JOR credit right now. 

Designer, Shannon Lewis of Bubululu Malibu, just launched her Summer 2011 video look book titled "Native Americana". Filmed at an undisclosed location in Malibu, California, "Native Americana" celebrates the mystic lore of Native American ceremony and ritual.

The video includes hot asses, hot chicks and even hotter bikinis! 

Models include Shannon Lewis herself, Chelsea Bulte (Planet Blue model), Annju'lia Smalls, Erica Ocampo, and Kelsey White.

Malibu High Summer '01

Summer 2011 Look book

This look book is rad. 

It also reminds me of those summers in high school spent with my girlfriends. 

Join me in reminiscing of that Malibu High 2001summer, the summer of sophomore year going into junior year. 

We were 16 years old and thought we were the SHIT 

(I mean...we actually kinda were to be honest. Just sayin).

The summer days were spent mostly at Lindsay's house on the Point, Whit's house in Serra Retreat or my house.
6 girls, 1 mission...to have as much fun as humanly possible. 

The look book could be almost the same photos I have of that summer. 

Lounging at Linds' pool (attempting to read our summer book for school, which I never did), playing dress up like idiots and taking pictures  just to kill sometime and have a giggle (which we were great at), ordering pizza from D'Amores just so Whit's boyfriend Keith (who we miss dearly) would deliver it, living in our bathing suits, walking down to Little Dume beach to "tan" aka hope to see all the boys surfing and flirt with Keegan, Jamie, Tyler, Trav, Remi, Tyler, Johnny, Zoran, Jeff, Mike, etc, go to Malibu Yogurt,  go back to the house to shower and change to go hangout with all the boys,  crank call the boys, sneak out of the window, grab a flask, 

and then end our nights back at home gossiping about the entire day over some late night Jack In The Box from Skeletor. 

Then do it all again the next day. And the next...

Those summers were my favorite. So innocent...but pushing our luck...

Learning who we were, what we wanted, who you liked and who you trusted with that information.

beautiful mess.

I felt this was appropriate. 

As I was driving to work this morning, stuck in PCH traffic...I actually paused, took a look around, and realized that the surf was great. I guess I kind of had a Southern California moment.

 I just love the Malibu, LA, SoCal lifestyle I guess. It is so diverse. 

There were BMW's, Porche's,  and Range Rovers parked along PCH at 7:45am with men changing out of their wetsuits to get ready to put their suit on and head downtown. Sandy towels in their trunk, along with a gallon of water to rinse off with and their leather briefcase's. 

I think thats what I love. The contrast. 

(hense the name NEONblack. There is no such thing as the color black ever  being neon. 

It's the contrast I love. In everything I do, wear, live, and love)

People in LA love to get dirty and do it well, and then transition to prim and proper all in a second.

SUCH a rad spot the boyfriend and I went to. Im def going back to do a photo shoot ASAP, except this time in some more appropriate footwear. I wore sandles. There are over 1,000 stairs and a lot of walking lol. Funny enough, we weren't the only LA kids to know about this place, check out Purse n Boots post and Planet Blue's look book here! LOVE it xx

Bubululu

A friend, a very talented friend, of mine is the designer behind Bubululu Bikini's. Born and raised in Malibu California, Shannon Lewis grew up surrounded by the beach lifestyle. These bikinis are honestly the hottest little things in the world, and so is she (and no, you cant hate her because she has a smashing bod and a model face along with mad skills. She's uber nice and sweet too. I know, barf...she's perfection in a bikini). The collecion has just enough sex appeal and class, all in one itty bitty thing (so go for that run tonight and do an extra squat in there!)! The talented bikini designer and company founder, is a fellow FIDM graduate, and is known for rocking her own itsy bitsy bikini's on local Malibu and Hawaii beaches among other celebs, rocking theirs too. Bubulu has been seen in SURFER Magazine, WSSM, Malibu Magazine, Swimsuit Magazine, The Swim Journal and on hot bods like Malibu local Pamela Anderson, Pink, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Hudson, Eva Longoria, and Sheryl Crow.

Shannon uses luxurious Italian fabrics in an array of colors, patterns and your go-to black and white. Shannon has teamed up with her environmentalist and designer mommy, Jayne Lewis, to create a line of eco-conscious swimwear.

Really? REALLY? Well, this should be a big hit in all the white upper class (lowclass) communities, a.k.a Malibu, Beverly Hills, Westwood, Santa Monica, Venice, etc...

M.A.L.I.B.U.

As always...I will ALWAYS and FOREVER give my friends I grew up with in Malibu a shout out-and get ready for a lot of them (I think there's something in the water in Malibu, I grew up with SO many talented people!). A friend of mine, and talented artist/photographer Keegan Gibbs did an amazing exhibit back in February and I wanted to give you a little glimpse of his amazing work and the life...I know and are very familiar with...Malibu lifestyle.
